China University of Geosciences Great Wall College

    China University of Geosciences Great Wall College is a college approved by the State Ministry of Education, co-founded by China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and Baoding Heyang Education Investment Co. Ltd. It is a full-time undergraduate college, recruiting students from all over the country using the unified national college enrollment plan and enrolling overseas students from foreign countries as well. The college now has more than 15,000 students.


    The school is located in the famous historical city of Baoding, known as the south gate of Beijing. Privileged by its location, Baoding serves as the industrial hub of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. The college covers an area of nearly 1,000 mu, with 800,000 square meters of building area, and a full range of teaching, cultural, sports, and student facilities. Its library contains over 1,000,000 books, including VIP access to the “Chinese Scientific and Technical Journals Database” and multiple other electronic databases.


    The college focuses on providing students with an education surrounding their discipline, with an emphasis on faculty development and improving teaching quality as its breakthrough point. It constantly optimizes the teaching process and improves the quality of its teacher training, upholding its teaching philosophy of creating a defining, high quality, and talent-rich school with an emphasis on personal and scientific development. The college takes discipline construction and the construction of teaching faculty as its breakthrough point to actively optimize the teaching process, so as to enhance the quality of training qualified personnel. At present, the college has the School of Geosciences and Resources, School of Engineering, School of Information Technology, School of Economics, School of Management Science and Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, Physical Education Department, and the Department of Core Education for a total of six schools and two departments. Of these, there are 33 undergraduate majors including geology, civil engineering, international economy and trade, project management, business English, environmental design and others. It’s a school focused on geoscience and engineering, with majors in science, engineering, economics, management, humanities and art to provide a well-rounded education.


    China University of Geosciences Great Wall College not only depends on the intelligence and talent resource advantages of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) but also emphasizes the development of our society and the needs of the human resource market as its guidance on creating a practical scheme combining with the unique characteristics of the college itself as well as the students, adopting the "3+1" and "1+1+N" to nurture students. It has pioneered its “toppling” curriculum in which students will develop an objective, find a main ideal position, gain the required knowledge, and find relevant courses so as to match our curriculum with the students’ learning goals.  

    First and foremost, the college aims to raise the quality of talent development of its students. To that end, a heavy emphasis is placed on strengthening the practice teaching. The school has geoscience, engineering, information technology, and economic management experiment teaching centers, with more than 80 laboratories of various types, and has over 100 internship programs with Zhoukoudian, Qinhuangdao, Xinjiang, Heilongjiang and other places. It’s created a teaching system with a healthy balance of both professional and general education to enhance a student’s creative thinking, professionalism, and innovation.


    The college focuses on overall development of students, and actively creates a strong cultural atmosphere on campus, often holding a variety of academic lectures and status-quo reports, and has created a "Machine Design Competition," "English Debate Competition," "ERP Sand Table Simulation Competition," and "Career Planning Competition" in a series of campus activities. The school treats students in a military school fashion to build strong will and good character.


    The college has national scholarships, national merit-based scholarships and state grants. It actively offers internships, and student job opportunities for students from less wealthy backgrounds to provide students with training opportunities and help them solve their practical difficulties.


    Our students graduate with humility, excellent professionalism, positive attitudes, innovation and other notable features widely praised by employers and the community. Over the past five years, we have maintained an employment rate of over 95% for our graduates. Likewise, over a thousand graduates of these past five classes have been admitted to Zhejiang University, Nankai University, China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and other prominent national universities’ master's degree programs.
